Based on LEAP FTP version 2.7.5 INIT STEP To share files at kompiss ftp server you need a membership but also a simple ftp client application. LeapFTP 2.7.5 is a rather old, but free and fully functional, version. It will do the needed tasks. Download and install this ftp client application. You can get it here: leapftp275.exe (957 Kb) STEP 1 Run Leap FTP. First you have to do some changes in the preferences: (click on this button)
STEP 2 Now, on the Advanced tab, remove the check besides the "Enable anti-idle" and then click OK to close the Preferences box.
STEP 3 Now you can setup the connection. (click on this button):
STEP 4 First picture: delete all sites already in the Archive list (no use of them anyway). To do that, hi-light all in the list then click "Delete site" and then "Yes". Now, click "Add site". Enter "Kompiss ftp" in the field and click OK. Hi-light the new "Kompiss ftp" and then enter all fields and checkboxes just as below. Of course you must enter your own Username and Password. Leave "Local Path" blank if you want. Second picture: click on "Advanced" tab. Check the "Use PASV mode" (Passive mode). Also check the "Site supports resume" (read more about why, in step 6:2) When done, click on "Apply" button down to the right and then "Exit". ![]()
STEP 5 Now you can connect to the ftp server! From now on, you just have to do following steps to upload and download. To connect, click on button "FTP Server", choose "Archive" and then "Kompiss ftp".
STEP 6:1 If the connection is established, this is what you now see: To the left you see your own harddisks, to the right you see kompiss ftp server. You can now start to copy from one side to another. All uploads should go inside the "upload" folder on the kompiss ftp server! To upload (or download), hi-light the files, rightclick and choose Upload (or Download).
STEP 6:2 Resuming If the connection is interrupted the up/downloading will also be interrupted. There is a way of resuming your up/downloads by checking the "Sites Resumes" in menu Options.
To always have this option checked you should check the "Site supports resume" in Site manager-Advanced (see step 4). When you have an interrupted up/download in queue, you will see this box. Click the "Resume" button to resume your up/download.
STEP 7 You can see your current download credits in the lower right list. The word ratio means that you have to upload before you can download. Give before take. Simple, isn't it? Ratio is 1/2 = you get double download credits on all uploads! WOW!
STEP 8 To disconnect from the server, click on this button.
